Faqs
Am I too old / wrong shape / not fit enough?
Now taken up by everyday people of all backgrounds, ages and
interests, whether fast and athletic or slow and sensual,
pole dancing has something for all shapes, styles and fitness
levels.
How strenuous is pole dancing?
Like any new physical activity, you'll probably "feel" it
at first, with some achiness and bruising to be expected a
few days after class. Over the weeks the body becomes 'conditioned',
gradually stronger and the techniques start becoming second-nature,
then things start to seem easier!
I have a sports injury / heart problems / Musculoskeletal
or other health concerns
As with beginning any new physical exercise, it's recommended
that you check with your GP or specialist first if you have
any concerns. Please call for advice in the case of recent
shoulder injuries / concerns, eg impingement or rotator cuff
injuries. You'll be required to sign a waiver / disclaimer
in the first lesson.
Can I pole dance if I'm pregnant / recently given birth?
Pole dancing isn't recommended during pregnancy due to the
hormonal changes which make the body (joints in particular)
more prone to injury at this time. Pole dancing is ideal post-pregnancy
after about 12 weeks, and many new Mums come to pole classes
as a way back into exercise again.
Level 1 Course Description
The Level 1 course will tone the muscles, burn energy, work
the abs/core, and let you unleash your creative (or seductive)
side. Pole dancing is an amazing, demanding, confidence-building
skill, and we teach it in a sociable environment where you
can have a bit of me-time with like-minded people, learning
at your own pace. It is NOTHING like going to the gym, yet
brings comparable results.
Our Level 1 Beginners Course is:
Designed for complete, utter Beginners!
Come by yourself or with friends, but don't worry if you've
never stood next to a pole before, as this is the norm, and
we'll begin from scratch with the easy stuff
A small and friendly class
It's 2 people max per pole (it's good to share, your muscles
get a break and assisting or watching your 'pole buddy' helps
the movements sink in quicker). The atmosphere is more 'supportive'
than competitive, generally everyone learns at their own pace
and without pressure (the aim is to keep things fun as well
as instructional ;-p)
Spins, tricks, floorwork, poses and pole dance signature
steps
All the elements of a pole dance routine! We'll also do a
Warm-Up, Cool-Down, Pole Conditioning, individual practice
and a fast-paced section of cued routines (a dance background
isn't required, the Instructor will break things down step
by step, and cue you through all the moves).
Structured and progressive
We'll learn a new chunk of the Course routine each week,
as well as practice the earlier blocks and pole techniques.
It's designed to allow you to gradually build strength and
take on more challenging moves
accompanied by a Level 1 Certificate in Pole Dancing
On completion of the course. You will also receive hand-outs
of the moves and course routine
